EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: STEADY START

European futures are signalling a relatively flat open on Wednesday as a selloff in global longer-dated debt eased but a stalemate between the U.S. and Iran continued to support oil prices.

Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 are off less than 0.1%. Futures on Germany's DAX FDXc1, Britain's FTSE 100 FFIc1 and France's CAC 40 FCEc1 were all hovering around the unchanged mark.

Sentiment remains shaky with U.S. President Trump saying no talks were taking place with Iran and asserting that the Strait of Hormuz was open, contradicting Tehran's line that the waterway remained closed to shipping.

The impasse has pushed Brent LCOc1 back above $92 per barrel for the first time since July 24.

In corporate news, Danish brewer Carlsberg CARLb.CO missed half-year estimates but forecast full-year profit towards the upper end of its previous guidance range.
